There are a few things that stay with you throughout your life—well, at least for me. Some of those things include my family—both early on and now–the neighborhood in which I grew up, and the schools where I went. Thank goodness for Highland High. I met some of the best friends and teachers I ever had there and many with whom I continue to associate (mostly through Facebook). When you're young, your family shapes you, but we kind of all went through the portal into adulthood together and, for me, that connects us. I'm thankful for all of you with whom I went on that journey. Plus, some of our friends have known us longer than most. We share similar home turf, we're of the same generation, we have many of the same friends and share many of the same cultural understanding of the place and time. In fact, most songs in which I remember a place or with people happened during high school. It's that kind of place and school.
