Whenever I think of my high school days at Highland I get all nostalgic and mushy inside. I often find myself transported back in time to when I was 17. Platform shoes and ruffled tuxedo shirts and flair pants to the prom, creative dating Dan Devey and I converted a school bus into a restaurant. Kidnapping Rhonda Foster's "practice baby" and holding it for ransom in Mrs. Swalberg's Home economics class and sitting next to Sandee Broadhead there. All night homework sessions with Walt Adam, Our Town All these memories and more are still near and dear to my heart. My first date with Janine Simons, being paired with Cindy Grey to dance in with in the ballroom scene in Cinderella, being the only boy in the girls gymnastics classes (and loving it!)and all the other girls I wished I'd kissed. When I think of the girls I had crushes on I find they are still hard to shake it off. I remember When James Eble drank a glass of raw eggs to the tune of Rocky, and Seminary Choir, Key Club and In Black & White literary magazine with Mrs. Amy Haley.
When I here songs like Mahogany (Do you Know Where Your Going to?) & Evergreen I get a lump in my throat just like I did when they were played at the graduation assembly. I feel sad about the friends who no longer with us, especially my best friend (and best man Steve Anderson) and I feel happy to be in touch with so many. Although there were some hard and even cruel times these 40 years gone by have healed those wounds and have faded into the distance. I love you all and I can't wait to see you again. Ramble On Rams
